The Importance of ReligionReligion has been a major part of human history for as long as we can tell. It has greatly influenced culture in nearly every time period. Religion is the sole reason that several famous structures were built, and why many traditions were started that may still be practiced to this day. Religion has been the center of several wars and conflicts between people and nations, and was made into a scapegoat for many mass genocides. Basically, religion is the explanation or excuse for why many people act the way they do and why many major historical events took place.

Why I chose this topic... |
I chose to study this topic over the course of my semester in this class in hopes to gain some insight into why some things in history took place or why things went down the way that they did. I know religion to be a major factor for numerous events but I want to learn why. Even if you're not a religious person, I believe it to be important to study anyways. What exactly was the mindset of the people when they were motivated by religion? To what extent has religion's reach been on people and societies? How exactly were civilizations impacted by religion?
